Teeth Scaling
Teeth scaling is a procedure where deposits and stains are cleaned from the tooth surfaces by means of an ultrasonic scaling device. This device creates small vibrations which helps in removing deposits off the tooth without harming the tooth enamel.
Scaling helps keep the teeth and gums healthy, preventing bleeding gums which is a sign of gum disease. Regular cleaning of teeth prevents gum disease which may lead to tooth loss.
What to expect after Scaling
- One should not eat or drink immediately after scaling
- Your teeth might be sensitive to hot and cold for a few days which is normal. Warm salt water rinse or mouthwash is advised.
- Incases where there are heavy deposits, your teeth and gums might feel loose after cleaning all the deposits. This is reversible to a certain extent after your gums heal.
